Susanna Clarke's The Wood at Midwinter
A couple of things that I’ve noticed over the past few weeks:
- The book’s release has been moved back to 8th November.
- It was released in audio form via BBC Sounds and read by Sophie McShera. It was originally released in December of 2022. It’s still available.
- There is an Audible version of the story read by Susanna Clarke herself available as 1 credit for members, or £7.99 outside of the credit system.
There also appears to be a new audiobook edition of Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell read by Richard Armitage with Neil Gaiman and an introduction by V E Schwab.
The metadata suggests its a series, and this being book 1 – but I’ve had problems with Audible in the past with Gormenghast. They’ve published the complete Titus Groan and subsequent Gormenghast books as one volume (simply entitled Gormenghast), and then the original, separate editions (which were split into multiple volumes too) which really buggered up my audiobook library. I hope this not the case here. In any event, I’ve added it to my wishlist and will use my monthly credit to buy it.
